I was first licensed in December, 2020, after decades of wanting it; by contest definitions, I’m no longer a newbie!
I’ve been operating with some arbitrary, self-imposed limits. 99W max. Only SSB, CW, and RTTY; I do get on local VHF repeaters occasionally. No recorded contest CQs or exchanges in SSB or CW. I have no good, real reason for these limits, except maybe to limit myself somehow in this potentially limitless hobby. Maybe some delusions of old-fashionedness.
I seem to like sending and receiving CW at around 20 wpm. Head-copying is limited to about 10 wpm; if I seem confused during a QSO, probably means I wasn’t ready to write down what you sent. Need to keep practicing!
