Age here is 78, and it is FB to be a member of CW OPS. Thanks to Bud AA3B for the nomination and those who sponsored.
I grew up in rural area of VA northwest of Richmond. I still live on the same place where I was born. Unlike lots of hams, I had no exposure to radio until age 35, when I got my advanced ticket as WD4IMB. A year later I upgraded in 1978 with call KG4W.
I hit the ground running and soon was building all sorts of antennas and multi op contesting at W4DR, W4MYA and KX4S. There are not many towers in the area that I haven’t climbed. Other memberships include CVCC, PVRC, SKCC, QCWA AND NAQCC. Contesting and DXing are my main interests and these days I enjoy kibitzing with W4DR on 146.58 about DX; he can tell me more about what DX I need than I can.
CW keys include 3 bugs a E.F. Johnson speedx, Vibroplex original and a Viz Vertical. Straight keys are J38, Western Union and Kent; also have a Vibroplex paddle.
When contesting, I let N1MM+ do the work. I took an early retirement from Bell Atlantic in 1991, where I worked as a PBX repairman and a supervisor. Other interests (mainly in the past) included hunting, fishing and gardening. Mainly now, I just cut the grass, go to mailbox and work with programs on my Win10 computer plus read lots of emails.
