I was born in Boston in November 1943.
I was first licensed as KN1NLP on February 11, 1960 and was issued my novice test by Mr. 160 meters, Stu Perry.
Presently I live in Holliston with my bride of 52 years this June, Elaine.
My profession for 40 years was working as an electrical engineer and I graduated from Northeastern University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
My interests in ham radio are DXing, contesting, antennas, radio wave propagation, CW primarily and the comradery and friendships that come from this lifelong hobby.
The equipment at my home QTH is as follows:
- Rig: TEN-TEC ORION 565
- Tuner: TEN-TEC 238
- Amp: ALPHA 91B (1500 Watts PEP)
- Ant: CUSHCRAFT R7 presently and is being replaced by a ZeroFive 10M – 40M ground plane vertical and a 10M – 40M K4KIO Hex Beam.
- SDR: LP-PAN 2 with BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UMC202HD
- Headphones: HEIL PRO SET 3
- KEYER: BEGALI Signature Professional XXX check format
AWARDS: DX CENTURY CLUB (DXCC 200), WAC (10M, 15M, 20M & 40M) and WAS (Mixed)
Other interests are reading, swimming laps, riding my Bianchi racing bike, shooting targets and clays (belong to the Southborough Rod and Gun Club, that has a ham shack on 80 acres of woods – check out W1SRG), walking, belong to the Mass Audubon Sanctuary and of course my family. We have one son and a granddaughter (about to be 13) who is the love of my life.
I look forward to being a member of CWops and the comradery and friendships that hopefully will be made on the airwaves and in person.
This biography is what appeared in Solid Copy when the member joined CWops.
