My Dad was in the Signal Corps during WW II, where he used Morse code to attempt to decipher Japanese transmissions in the Pacific. When I was 15 and living in RI we got involved in CB radio in 1976. After 3 yrs of that, I got interested in ham radio and took the Novice test and passed, becoming KA1CCA in Jan 1979.

I’ve been pretty active ever since, snagging the callsign W1AL in 2004 until earlier this year when I opted for a more CW friendly 1X2 and became N1IA. I’m interested in CW, FT8, DX, antennas, and restoring Vibroplex bugs.

I reside in Florida and run the Bulgarian-made superheat Mission RGO One transceiver, an Acom 1000 HF 1KW amplifier, and a 200 ft end fed long wire on top of a 6 ft privacy fence.

You’ll find me in the CWT at around 25-35 WPM. Look forward to working all of you!
