I was born and raised in Nebraska and moved to Wyoming for school in 2008 where I received degrees in biology and computer engineering. I have been working in electronics since 2013 and am now the lead electrical engineer at Metrohm Raman in Laramie, WY. My experience includes electrical design, testing and deployment including FPGAs and imaging for Raman spectrometer devices.
My wife and I got married and bought a house in 2023 and have been renovating different parts which takes up most of my current free time at home. When I can get a break from work on the house I am usually designing and building RF equipment, my current project being a miniature foxhunt transmitter for 2 m.
I got my general ticket with a buddy in 2012, not realizing we’d need to take the Tech test first. Fortunately, we both left with our general tickets and started slowly on SSB. We smartly started studying CW and I joined LICW and SKCC in 2022, and since then I’ve kept the microphones packed away. I enjoy field days, POTA, SOTA, and contesting. I must thank Joe Spencer, KK5NA, and the CWA class of Sep-Oct. 2024 for my improvement in proper CW operation.
