Note: CWT Scores Posted HERE

CWops Tests, or CWTs, are 60 minutes in duration and held on Wednesday and Thursday every week. There are now four events each week, at times that favor different geographic areas. Everyone is welcome – you don’t have to be a CWops member to join the fun. CWTs are a good opportunity to meet other CW fans who may be interested in CWops membership. Six bands are used – 10, 15, 20, 40, 80 and 160m. Suggested frequencies are from 28 to 45 kHz from the band edges.  However, this range should not be considered a limit when activity is such that participants find it necessary to spread further.   Please be considerate of ongoing QSOs and mindful of DXpeditions, SOTA/POTA operations, W1AW bulletins and code practice transmissions, etc. Please slow down when called at a slower speed – we want everyone to feel welcome. Lots of Qs or just a few, please submit your results for each session at http://3830scores.com

Purpose

Meet and greet and show activity on the bands.  It’s a good public relations opportunity for CWops for those who haven’t heard of us yet.  It’s also an opportunity for interested non-members to garner the required nominations for membership.

Times

Every Wednesday at 1300 – 1400z and 1900 – 2000z, and every Thursday at 0300 – 0400z and  0700 – 0800z.

Note: The exact dates for CWT each week are posted in the above table.

Exchange

Call “CQ CWT”.  Exchange:  Just send your First Name and CWops member number. Non-members will send First Name, and State, Province, or DX Country prefix.  This will allow most operators to use a general-purpose logging program or a paper log if necessary.  A dedicated CWOPs module has been written for N1MM by Nick, NA3M.  Other logging programs are also available. See our software page for more information.

CW Academy students exchange: CWA, in place of State, Province or DX Country prefix.

The CW Academy student should select “Academy Single OP” under class when logging results on 3830 .

Scoring

The final score can be calculated by counting 1 point per QSO (work a station once per band only) and multiply total points by the number of unique callsigns worked.  If you had 75 QSOs with 40 different callsigns, your score is 75 x 40 = 3000 points.  State which power class: QRP, LP, HP. If applicable, check the SO2R and/or Remote operation checkbox(es).

Reporting

Report results by time segment: CWT-1300, CWT-1900, CWT-0300 or CWT-0700. Scores should be submitted within 48 hours to be certain of being included in our counts towards the participation awards.  Thanks to Bruce, WA7BNM, everyone can post results on the https://3830scores.com/ website.

Note: If you use a call sign other than your regular home call sign, please make sure that you include your home call sign in the Operator(s) Call(s) box at 3830scores.com, in order to ensure that your participation points will be recorded and accumulated correctly.

Although we don’t have plaques, we do present very nice certificates and medals for CWT participation, based on the number of participation points accumulated during the year. If you are operating from North America or Europe, you earn one point for each CWT session in which you make ten or more contacts. For CWT sessions when you operate from any other continent, you only need to make five contacts to earn a point for participating. You don’t have to be a CWops member to earn points, but you must be a member at the end of the year when the certificates and medals are presented.

Members from North America and from Europe (starting in 2022) need 120 points for gold, 80 points for silver and 50 points for bronze. Members from other continents need 60 points for gold, 40 points for silver and 24 points for bronze. Our objective is to encourage CWT participation — you don’t have to be competitive to earn points, just active. To earn points, report your score for each session at https://3830scores.com/ .

Once the list of award winners for the year has been compiled (a week or two into the new year), you can download your certificate HERE. Certificates are free to all participants, whether they are CWops members or not, and whether or not they have reached one of the gold, silver or bronze levels. In addition to the certificates, there are also gold, silver and bronze medallions available to CWops members who have reached the qualification levels. To see if you qualify, check the aforementioned list or download your certificate to see what level medallion you earned.  There is a charge of $10 for each medallion, which includes postage (anywhere).   The deadline for ordering medallions is the end of February.  Use the payment button below for payments.

The deadline for ordering medallions was the end of February.  Prolonged to March 10th.
